Site Map

The Moremi Wildlife Reserve encompasses part of the Okavango Delta and stretching eastward from the Delta towards Chobe National Park, is over 3,000 sq km. You can take a mobile safari staying in lodges or a camping safari making camp each evening in a remote part of Chobe National Park or though slightly more expensive there are fly-in safaris for those who would prefer a more convenient means of travel through the country. The habitat in the Moremi ranges from dry savannah woodland, through mopane forest, riverine woodland, flood plain, islands and reedbeds to permanent swamp.

For the birding enthusiasts, there are the magnificent heronries where a host of birds cluster in the tops of fig thickets whose roots are deep in water, surrounded by a mass of lily pads and pale blue flowers.

While on the Moremi flood plains and in the woodland areas, there are elephants, buffalo, lechwe, zebra, lion, hyena, jackal, antelopes and sometimes cheetah and wild dog can be seen too.

Chiefs Camp

Chief's Camp is a luxury bush lodge situated on Chief's Island in the exclusive Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana. In this "predator capital of Africa", wild dog, lion, cheetah and leopard abound, and guests enjoy exceptional opportunities to interact with this amazing environment. Recently, white rhino have been introduced to this concession, making it the only place in Botswana where these magnificent animals can be seen in their natural habitat.

Chief's Camp has been so skilfully integrated into the landscape that guests can often view game without even leaving camp. Shaded from the heat of the day by a beautiful grove of jackal berry trees, Chief's Camp is so remote you'll feel like the only humans for miles and miles.

Moremi-SafarisTwelve secluded, permanent luxury bush pavilions are designed for ultimate privacy and comfort, and to offer you a front row seat for this rich and rewarding African adventure. Each features an en suite bathroom and private game viewing deck.

Game viewing opportunities include daily excursions in open four-wheel-drive vehicles and quiet mokoro trips along narrow Delta channels during the flood season. Expert guides are always on hand to offer a wealth of wildlife knowledge, to help you make the most of these rare and wonderful opportunities. Link to camp web site

Mombo Camp

Mombo Camp is situated on Mombo Island, adjoining the northern tip of Chief's Island, and is within the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana. Mombo is built on an island that is surrounded by open flood plains. The camp is largely built in and around the shade of some large mangosteen, ebony and fig trees and overlooks a wonderful flood plain that teems with game.

Mombo-safaris-BotswanaThe camp has 9 comfortably furnished, luxurious tents, raised off the ground. The guest's rooms and the walkways that connect the rooms to the living area are up to 2m off the ground, allowing game to wander freely through the camp - but at the same time allowing for guest safety. One often finds that animals take refuge under the rooms! The canvas rooms are spacious and well appointed and have en-suite facilities under canvas and an additional outdoor shower for those who enjoy a shower under the stars. The dining room, bar and living area overlook the open plains in front of the camp and there is a plunge pool for relaxing in the heat of the day.

Activities at Mombo include morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 Land Rovers. The game viewing in the area is excellent and guests could see lion, leopard, large herds of buffalo, cheetah, wild dog, elephant, white and black rhino, hyena, giraffe, wildebeest and zebra.
