Safaris in Chobe will offer you some excellent game viewing with herds of elephants, prides of lion and many other animals to be seen.  You can take a mobile safari staying in lodges or a camping safari making camp each evening in a remote part of Chobe National Park or though slightly more expensive there are fly-in safaris for those who would prefer a more convenient means of travel through the country.

Chobe National Park covers an area of about 11,000 sq km in northern Botswana and stretches from close to the border with Zimbabwe in the east to the Moremi Wildlife Reserve in the west. The Linyanti Wildlife Reserve is to the west and north on Chobe National Park with the Linyanti River and the Savuti channel being the major features of the Reserve.

Within the Park, the habitat ranges from the swamps and flood plains at Linyanti in the north west, to the expansive grassy plains in the central western area of Savuti Marsh, to the lush riverine vegetation running along the Chobe River in the north east. It is this diverse habitat which gives rise to the variety and concentration of game found in the area.

The area of the Chobe River is renowned for the huge herds of elephants which concentrate along the banks of the river, sometimes in numbers in excess of 200 elephants also herds of up to 1000 buffalo can be seen, but throughout the park one can expect to see lion, hyena, hippo, giraffe, zebra, antelope and many other species. The Linyanti Swamps are home to the shy sitatunga and a tremendous variety of birds.
